Artist Biography

Jana is a fifth generation Colorado Native who grew up in Coal Creek Canyon and developed a deep connection for  the art and beauty of the mountains while collecting stones and riding her horse Rocket.

While marketing granite products for Red Granite Stone,  a quarry in Lyons, CO. Jana was introduced to Roger Seal. Roger was a very talented memorialist and sculptor for Fairmount Cemetery. It was Roger who introduced Jana to the world of marble and stone sculpting, by inviting her to attend the Marble/Marble Symposium and from there she has put her talent for art into practice for more than 25 years under the wing of many talented instructors and fellow artists.

With many ancestral connections to the world of art such as Hiram Powers, whose works are on display at Yale University Art gallery; as well as Preston Powers, whose art is on display outside of Colorado’s capitol, it’s no wonder Jana has a deep passion for the world of sculpting.

Jana has a love for creating realist and whimsical pieces with a focus on horses. Though with her passion and talent she can sculpt a wide variety of animals and figures.
